Frequently Asked Questions for Valley Springs Dual Sport Ride

What are the requirements to ride?

  • Current AMA registration is required: Register with the AMA! You will need your AMA number to complete event registration.
  • Event registration is required: Register for the Valley Springs Dual Sport Ride!
  • All bikes must be street legal, licensed, insured according to WI state law, and ridden by a licensed rider. Out of state residents should note that WI law requires drivers to carry proof of liability insurance on their person. You will not have cell service on much of the ride, even in the areas that follow public roads. Valley Springs Motorcycle Club is not responsible in the event that you’re ticketed during the ride.
  • Exhaust shall not exceed 96dB, spark arrestors are required.
  • All riders must wear an approved helmet. Additional safety equipment is strongly recommended.
  • The entire event course is on private property, riding the trails outside of the event is trespassing.
  • Obey all traffic laws on the road sections and be courteous to other drivers.  
  • Waivers are required for riders between 16 and 18 years old. 
  • Full knobby tires are strongly recommended, DOT tire inspection will NOT be performed by event staff.

What is the event schedule?

Friday: Sign in and Tech inspection will be available from 6-8pm.

Saturday: Sign in and Tech inspection will be open from 6-7:30am. Rider meeting will be held in the shelter at 7:30am and you MUST attend. Event will begin at 8am. Lunch will be served in Bay City from 11am-1pm.


What is the fuel situation?

Gas WILL BE PROVIDED at the first and third gas stop. The gas is Ethanol Free 91 octane in a mobile gas pump from Hofmeister Oil Company.

Amsoil 2 stroke oil will be provided. Cans of 50:1 premix are provided at the gas stops.  If you need a different ratio you may need to mix your own gas.

If these oils aren’t acceptable or if your bike runs on something other than gasoline you will have to make your own arrangements. We will no longer be hauling around trailers filled with gas cans.

  • The first gas stop will be approximately 30 miles from the start. (Gas Provided)
  • The second gas station at lunch time in Bay City sells ethanol free 91 octane on a separate hose. (Not Provided)
  • The third gas stop will be approximately 30 miles after lunch. (Gas Provided)

What is the food situation?

Breakfast Burritos, Coffee, and Juice by Ellsworth Ambulance will be available for a small fee prior to the Rider Meeting.

Lunch is included with your registration and will be available during the Lunch Stop in Bay City. Must be registered to receive lunch.


What is the lodging/camping situation?

Lodging is limited in Ellsworth. Check out these options and note the amount of time it will take to get to the Pierce County Fairgrounds:

Camping is available at the Pierce County Fairgrounds (where the event starts and ends) for $30 per night.

Payment for camping is on the honor system at the Fairgrounds.

Please be sure to pay for campsite (trailers and tents) to keep our good standing for future events!

Event amenities (showers/bathrooms) will be open Friday-Sunday.

There are 35+ camping locations with electrical hookup, up to ten spots with 50 amp hookup.

Camping is first come/first serve so come early! 

There are more than enough spaces for everybody without electricity.

Where can I get the route maps?

These trails are not open to the public and routes change every year. Valley Springs Dual Sport Ride map are released in August each year, just before the ride. Registered riders will receive a download link. If you have registered and can’t find the link, please Contact Us.
